When we add in that women are expected to engage in a third shift of work — on our bodies and appearance — well, I’m just too exhausted to even think what that means for the money others make from women’s adaptability and the extension of our labor into monetizable zones of productivity. And speaking of women’s academic labor – how about if we all stopped doing administrative work for a week to see just who in our departments, colleges, and universities would pick up the slack?!
