With the start of the new season, I decided to give Formula 1’s new home in the U.S. a shot and have been impressed with NBC Sports’ coverage, so far. They hired the only positive asset that the SPEED coverage had, the commentators (especially pitlane reporter Will Buxton, who more than holds his own against his European counterparts); they seem to have put a lot more money into the production, as sets, video packages, intros/outros look much better; they offer longer pre- and post-race shows, leaving much more time for race result analysis; and they even offer online streaming of sessions.

With the addition of the USGP in Austin and the prospect of having select races broadcast on NBC proper, there is reason for optimism when it comes to the prospect of growing the fanbase of Formula 1 in the United States, and I am very happy about the improved coverage of my favorite sport on NBC Sports. (And for those who don’t want to sacrifice their sleep, the races are always rebroadcast Sunday mornings. They are a great watch over a lazy breakfast).
