In last night’s second episode, the daughter’s pregnancy indeed becomes a public issue after it is accidentally leaked to the press. The comedy of vulturous reporters attacking the celebrity family for information implicitly argued for privacy on this matter, suggesting that the show is edging towards more engaged stances. However, celebrity privacy is a different issue from the interpretation of the Constitution as granting privacy from the government in personal matters. At one point, Jenna Elfman’s first lady assures her child that this is a family issue rather than a political one. But that is not true on our side of the screen.
