Sorry I’m just seeing this now and responding nearly 2 weeks late. I particularly appreciate your observation that the attention to gender and inclusivity in the industry has not included AAA studios/publishers, who have a LEGAL obligation to address discrimination and harassment in their workplaces. I’ve been pouring over the #1reasonwhy tweets, cataloging how the self-disclosure statements of many participants could serve a class-action harassment lawsuit against the industry. What the conversation this past year has lacked, in my view, is a policy framework for understanding the stories of discrimination and harassment that are finally finding a voice. When these accounts are placed in an historical context regarding workplace harassment and grounded in legal precedent, perhaps then AAA studios/publisher (who, as you state, may be losing power, but still play a significant role in shaping the industry) may be compelled to respond.
